The impact of pregnancy symptoms continues to be widespread for mothers across the world. The most common symptoms include nausea, vomiting, mood swings, cramps, and bloating. Oftentimes, mothers are confused about these effects and are curious about why they are happening.
Nausea occurs when the mother’s hormonal changes fluctuate due to an increase in estrogen. To treat nausea and vomiting, mothers should eat small meals, drink many fluids, avoid seafood or junk food, and remain well rested.
Another common pregnancy side effect is fatigue. This can be attributed to hormonal changes, increased blood volume, low blood sugar levels, and disrupted sleep. To treat fatigue, it is integral that a mother consumes nutritious food and sleeps well. Hydration and light exercise are also very helpful to reduce fatigue.
It is important that a mother and developing baby stay healthy throughout the perinatal period. There are key nutrients a mother can take to improve her and her baby’s well-being. Iron, calcium, magnesium, and Vitamin B6 can boost the mother’s energy and help alleviate nausea.
Eating healthy and getting enough rest is one of the most important things to do when carrying a baby. Ultimately, the health of the infant is dependent on the health of the mother.
