Increasingly used day by day, AI is now being applied to diagnose malaria, a significant step in healthcare technology. With the input of blood samples, the AI-assisted machine is now capable of completing the task in a matter of minutes, achieving a remarkable 95% accuracy rate.
This is a tremendously important advancement in the fight against malaria, a disease that affects over 263 million people worldwide, making it one of the most prominent diseases globally (MMV). A significant portion of those affected are from low-GDP countries, hindering their ability to defend against this issue based on a scarcity of necessary resources. The dramatic improvements in speed and efficiency by AI-assisted technology will allow for proper diagnoses to reach a far greater number of people in these countries without the prohibitive costs associated.
